If  today Shanti Gyan Niketan can boast of its predominant position as one of the premier institutions in Delhi , it is because of the management, the teachers and the students and the non-teaching staff that have untiringly worked towards it. Building an institution is like nurturing plants and trees; a lot of care goes in it. They will dry up and eventually die if left untended. The same applies to centers of learning. It takes years for a school to reach to a certain level of reputation and respectability. The level has to be constantly maintained for qualities never an accident; it is the result of perseverance and hard work. Just as silver gets tarnished if left unpolished for long, decay and degeneration seeps into the very fabric of institution, if lack of vision, complacency and inertia are allowed to have the better of it.
