Shanti Gyan Niketan Events

A dream came true when SGN participated in the national event, Republic Day Parade on Jan26, 2006. Around 180 students of classes 6-11 performed in the rich and joyous "bhangra" most zealously. As the Niketians proceeded, dancing on the bhangra beats, the luring beats on the "dhol", excited the audience and a huge round of applause vibrated in the air. Being a part of this solemn Republic, SGN extended its hand in expressing respect and reverence for their country-INDIA. School also participated at Chattarshal Stadium on Republic Day.

A tableau of our creativity could be seen in spectacular "Krishna Ballet" performed by the budding Niketians at Talkatora Stadium. Another spellbinding performance was the "Ramayana" which was staged in the lawns of SGN itself. A Bhajan Sandhya by Shri Anup Jalota and evening with Gurdas Mann, renowned Punjabi singer were also organised in the school.

The school organized a Youth Parliament staged by the zealous students of SGN. A wonderful tableau representing our Indian government  was designed especially for the event. It raised several social problems and solutions to them. The honored dignitaries applanded at the magnificent works of the budding politicians.

Students from Pakistan visited the school where they were provided with majestic welcome and heart-rending hospitality. The exchange programme helped the students to be more tolerant and sensitive to other cultures. Niketians bade adieu to their "friends" with a heavy heart. People came over from Japan with a mission to spread peace around the world. They were given heartiest welcome and appreciated for this noble cause.

The school celebrates its Annual Sports Day every year where the upcoming Rathores, Tendulkars, Bhutias and many more are awarded with prizes in regard of their contribution to the school honours. The students perform several sports and cultural programmes.

Various eminent dignitaries as guest have presided various functions organised by school. Few of them are Prof. Moonis Raza the then Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma the then Vice-President of India, Shri Sahib Singh Verma, Ex-Central Labour Minister, Shri Vijay Goel, Ms. Aarti Mehra, Mayor, Delhi, Dr. Harsh Vardhan member of WHO.

N.C.C. Jr. Division (Air Wing) since July 2006 is imparting training to students of classes VIII to X. Students have gone for many out station camp also .They won various laurels in competitions organised over there. Master Pranjal Sharma had been selected for National Events.
